ARPRO Car Park Protection Reduces Vehicle & Building Damage

A new, easy to install car park protection system using ARPRO® can significantly improve vehicle and building fabric protection. The “Park Sentry” product, previously made from polyurethane, now moulded provides improved protection for pedestrians, cars and car park pillars.

“ARPRO was the only material that met our “official” and “non-official” tests,” claims James Ryan, Sentry’s Managing Director. “To test the energy absorption of ARPRO, we used our “non official” baseball bat demonstration procedure and subsequently broke the bat. Now, thanks to its success, we are trialling the Park Sentry product with the largest parking management company in the United States.”

Moulded from a thin layer of specifically engineered ARPRO, Park Sentry surrounds the car park pillar with a scratch-free ‘bumper’ that also increases the visibility of the pillar for collision avoidance. With the pillar more visible, drivers can see any protrusions and, even if an incident occurs, damage is avoided.

“Sentry approached JSP to offer an optimised 100 percent recyclable and impact resistant solution,” explains Paul Compton, JSP’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (Europe). “Sentry’s previous protection concept used a self-skinning polyurethane foam that was unable to meet the demanding durability and impact resistance requirements set by Sentry and its customers. ARPRO provides the necessary properties.”

ARPRO also protects the parking pillar itself because the Park Sentry is wrapped around the "splash zone,” therefore reducing damage from road salt corrosion. ARPRO is oil, chemical and water and has been proven in automotive, motorsport and search-and-rescue applications. It can withstand multiple impacts without significant deformation, and return to its original shape following dynamic stress.

“With a wide range of new colours on its way, Park Sentry will give car park operators opportunities to differentiate parking zones, therefore enabling customised floor levels, parking grades and rental areas,” continues Ryan.

JSP has been so impressed by the performance of the products, that it has specified them for its own use. “In line with its global Health and Safety objectives, JSP is now sourcing pillar protection from Sentry for its global manufacturing facilities, so it has been the ultimate example of two-way collaboration,“ concludes Compton.
